    Yes you can add a date field extra field

    Mike firstly thanks for your response but the issue is not to add new fields but to add a date picker.
    The date input from the front end when clicked on would open a calendar so as to select a date, this saves the customer or client time not having to type the date, they only need to click and select the date.

    The typical behaviour of the date field is to launch a date picker window calendar where you can select a date.

    Since yours is not responding in this manner, it would seem you have a javascript or plugin conflict on your site.

    You could try disabling other plugins temporarily to see if it works after that, or try disabling the custom JS to try to find the culprit.
