    I am trying to migrate a Joomla database I have on a remote host to one on my localhost but I keep getting the error

    Erreur !: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2003] Can’t connect to MySQL server on ‘p50mXXXXXXXXXXX’ (4)

    Mac OSX 10.6.8
    using MAMP with MySQL port 3306

    I put in the hostname for my database as it is listed (hosting at GoDaddy)
    Port 3306
    Database name, User and password are correct.

    Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

    That is because your remote host doesn’t accept remote MySQL connections.
    To fix your problem, you just have to export your Joomla database and import it on your local MySQL database.

    Another solution is to do the whole migration on the remote site. This implies to have the Joomla and the WordPress site on the same host.
