Yes, that is possible, but you’d have to write some CSS styles to accomplish it. The Widget doesn’t add any styling to your theme. For an example of styling you could use, check out the “Related Articles” here: http://winthropintelligence.com/2012/05/coaching-contracts-and-the-federal-incentive-compensation-ban/#post-613. I’m using the Flexible Posts Widget to show the related article posts in a horizontal fashion.
