Plugin for bulk converting custom attributes to global?

    I’m looking for a plugin or tool that will let me bulk convert custom attributes to global ones. Does such a thing exist yet?

    I have a bunch of products with variations that have a size and colour. The sizes and colours of the products are the same, so it makes sense to convert those to global attributes. However, doing so manually would be exceedingly tedious and error-prone, as items frequently have well over 10 variations.

    I’m thinking you can do this using the built-in importer/exporter tool.

    Here are the steps I’d suggest:

    1. Create the global attributes on your dashboard.
    2. Export a CSV file of all your products, from Products > All Products > Export.
    3. Open the CSV file, and change the attributes. Use the global attributes you created previously.
    4. Save the file.
    5. Import the file back onto the site. Products > All Products > Import
    6. Make sure to select Update existing products.

    Sorry, I still haven’t had the time to try your suggestion.

    While that may work, it’s still a rather manual process. I was hoping that someone would have automated this, because I’m sure others have encountered this too.

    Hello! I also ran into this problem. I import a huge amount of goods and I have no way to set global attributes manually in advance. Is there really no solution to this problem? People have been looking for an answer since 2013!
