[Plugin: Global Translator] Some SEO problems in Webmaster Tools

    Hi,
    I am using Global Translator for some time and now doing a bit of SEO work I realized that there are some problems especially with Google Webmaster Tools.

    1. There are a lot of duplicate Meta Descriptions, due to the fact that Googlebot sees the same description as the basis and those reported with the code language (/en/ /es/ …and so on)
    In this way all pages translated report of duplicate meta descriptions.

    2. There are many duplicate title tags always caused by translation.

    3. Among the scanning errors there are several 404 error and analyzing the path I see that there’s a problem with the suffix &lang=it (in my case the blog is in Italian).
    At the end of the suffix &lang=it is added the /
    but when there is also the reference to page, adding two //
    you get a bad syntax like &lang=it//page/2
    which shows a 404 error.

    I hope to be able to explain the problem.

    I’m trying to solve these problems somehow, because I need to have the translation of the blog.

    Has anyone already encountered these problems?

    First I tried to edit the php plugin, where there is &lang, removing the/ at the end, because when WP add the reference to the page is added automatically with the /

    The problem of double // appeared to be resolved, but I still have many problems with duplicate metatag and relative decrease of pagerank and traffic, so I solved in the only way possible: I removed Global Translator.

    After removing GT, I had to modify the robots.txt file and .htaccess to “help” the search engines to clean up errors; now been two weeks and errors begin to decrease.

    A good plugin for the translation would be useful, but I do not have yet found one that does not cause problems with SEO.
