[Plugin: Google Analyticator] Outbound Tracking and Bad Behavior Plugin?
-
I’ve been using Google Analyticator for some time now, and noticed something weird that started happening last week. I recently installed another plugin called Bad Behavior (http://ww.wp.xz.cn/extend/plugins/bad-behavior/) to ward off nasty bots and crawlers which have been hitting my site. This seems to be working very well, but one weird side-effect is that my outbound traffic event counts dropped by almost 80% once the plugin was activated, even though overall site uniques, pageviews, etc seem to be at normal levels (minus a small amount of nasty bot traffic which wasn’t triggering GA anyhow.)
This plugin is supposed to block traffic from bad user-agents and known spam generators in Project Honeypot, so can you think of any reason why outbound click tracking might get caught by this?
I also noticed that the sample size in Google Analytics for site speed tracking dropped by the same percentage if that gives you any clue.
Again, no other top-line statistics seem to be out of whack.
