    Check my site as exmaple.
    I’ve set 50% in a div:
    <div id="cse-search-form45" style="width: 50%;">
    And 94% for “input.gsc-input”. But this second property I’ve set after JS initialization. Maybe otherwise your “input.gsc-input { width: 50%” is reassigned by other CSSs.
    Use Firebug for Firefox to see what happens there.
