[Plugin: Google XML Sitemaps] Bug – continually reporting error with sitemap.xml

There’s a minor but annoying bug in the Google sitemap generator plugin. Even though sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml.gz are both present, and correctly permissioned, the config page keeps reporting that “There was a problem writing your sitemap file. Make sure the file exists and is writable.”

Simply recreating the sitemaps manually works, and the error stops appearing after that point, but this false/misleading error message probably stops a lot of people from even trying.
