[Plugin: Google XML Sitemaps] Hooking into sitemap generation

Hello,

Is there a way to hook into the actual building process of the sitemap?

We’d like to add reference urls for language http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2620865

Is there a way to hook into Google Sitemaps to be able to implement custom language support like this for it? If not, could/would there be a huge use for a hook like this? I know it probably doesn’t seem like there would be since sitemaps don’t change THAT much at all, but I noticed this addition is recent and wanted to make sure to get it into my site ASAP because I deal with a number of sites that offer multi-language support.

I’d like to be able to update the plugin without worrying about updates killing the customizations.
