Plugin like a simpler Buddypress?

Hello all,

I’m looking for a way my members can place notices looking for people in a particular niche – like a dating thing but not. Then I need a way for people to reply to the noticeboard so others can see and others can join if they want to. I dont want a members list. Then they would go off and form their own group. Buddypress is kinda what I need but I dont want all the activity. Im looking for something simpler. So a group plugin would work, but a simple style with no bells and whistles.

I can work with Buddypress and turn some stuff off and hide the members list (as I know with bp you have to have the members list turned on), but just wondered if anyone knew of any other similar plugin?
