I have been trying to us the meteor slide tool to create a rotating banner for my site. I am using the 2010 Weaver V1.5.4 theme, and in the advanced options settings in the Site Header Insert Code section the directions state “his code HTML will be inserted into the #branding div header area right above where the standard site header image goes. You can use it for logos, better site name text – whatever. When used in combination with hiding the site title, header image, and the menu, you can design a completely custom header. “If you hide the title, image, and header, no other code is generated in the #branding div, so this code can be a complete header replacement. You can also use WP shortcodes to embed plugins, including rotating image slideshows such as Meteor Slides.

And Weaver automatically supports the Dynamic Headers plugin which allows you create highly dynamic headers from its control panel – just install and it will work without any other code edits.”

I have placed the code designated my meteor slides for heading <?php if ( function_exists( ‘meteor_slideshow’ ) ) { meteor_slideshow(); } ?> in this section and unchecked all of the options related to the header. The banner still does not rotate.

    Please help!

    Thanks in advance,

    Neil

Hi Neil, you need to use the shortcode rather than the template tag in the Weaver options I think:

    [meteor_slideshow]

Thanks for the info. With the change to the [meteor_slideshow] short code the slide show works like I envisioned it, however, the slide show stacked on top of the picture…even after I removed to he image.

Still all check boxes are unchecked. It seems that you have a really good product, but there are a few “gotchas” along the way. Were do I go from here?

    Again, thanks for your help!

To remove the header image you need to set “Hide Featured Image for Header” to 0. You’ll find this in the Main Options.

I looked in the main option section and the “Hide Featured Image for Header” option is just a check box and it is unchecked. There not an option to set it to “0”…am I missing something?

    Awaiting further instructions…

Sorry about that, you need to set the option below that, “Header Image Height”, to 0.

Thank you for your patience! It finally works and I am happy. I like the fact that you not only write a really nice plugin, but also take the time to stand behind your product to make sure that those who download your plugin are happy with it as well.

This has been a really good user experience because you are engaged; you got back to me relatively quickly. Now if I can make a suggestions, update your video on your site. In that one you go into taking out code etc. The way you have explained the use of your plugin to me is far more effective and useful.

Great job with the plugin and great job on the customer care.

No problem Neil, I think great documentation and support is a huge part of any good theme or plugin!

You’re right that video is out of date. I’m hoping to update it and record some additional videos soon, like one specifically about adding slideshows to the Weaver theme.

Adding a video tutorial video geared toward the Weaver theme would be great! I think the Weaver theme is used a great deal buy those just getting started with WP and know HTML and CSS. As it offers a great deal of flexibility.

Thank you so much for your help today! Keep up the good work.

I have followed all the instructions and added to code to my weaver themes blog and I am getting extra space under the slides how can i remove it? http://www.ccfwichita.com

Combogirl0, in your Weaver theme >the Dashboard >Main Options > scroll down to Image Head height. If there is a number in Image Head height, replace with “0.” Then refresh your site.

Also make sure that you have removed all of your pictures in the “header section.” If you are using Super Cache, delete your cache and refresh your browser.

    This should work

    Thanks Neil,
I had done all those things and still had the problem. I messed with it more today and figured out my problem. My slideshow setting for size of the slideshow was bigger than the slides I was using. Once I changed the setting it fixed.
    thanks again, Patti

Hi Valerie, it looks like everything is running alright, there are no errors and I can see the slideshow in the desktop version of Safari. I tested it on my Android mobile and it loads fine, touchwipe nav is working, no problems.

It should work fine on the iPhone as well, just to rule them out, try clearing your cache on your mobile, make sure you’re getting the latest versions of all the files. And try loading the site via wifi to make sure it isn’t loading too slowly over your cell connection.

Are you doing anything different for mobile that could be affecting it, mobile plugins, different theme, anything like that?

    (@valerie-b)

Yes 5 minutes later it worked again…just got a panic attack…haha Thank you so much!!
