[Plugin: Network Privacy] Settings Not Saving Through Network Admin Interface

In order to save myself a few clicks, I was planning to edit the privacy settings using Network Admin -> All Sites -> Edit for each site that I wanted to make private.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that this plugin adds some radio buttons to that screen for me to use to change the privacy setting, rather than having to manually change the setting.

However, after I chose a different radio button and saved the settings, I found that the new setting didn’t get saved. In order to update the setting, I ended up having to manually change it anyways (I set the “Blog Public” option to -3 on the settings page) or I had to visit Site Admin -> Settings -> Privacy.

I’m not sure if the radio buttons appearing on Network Admin -> All Sites -> Edit is a bug, or if the fact that the settings aren’t saving/updating properly when using those radio buttons is a bug; but I just wanted to report my findings.

There may have been a hook change. What version of WP were you using?

On that site, I’m using 3.2.1 (migrated from an old WPMU install, just in case that would make any sort of difference). Let me try it on my 3.3 install and see if that makes a difference.

Just tested on 3.3, as well. Same result.

Just to be clear, I’m talking about the settings screen you see when you go to Network Admin -> All Sites; then click the “Edit” link for a specific site, then click the “Settings” tab (as shown in the screen shot at http://yfrog.com/nubepp).

In that image, I selected “Site administrators”, scrolled to the bottom of the screen and clicked “Save Changes”. As you can see, the selected option after saving is still “Open to search engines”. Thanks.

I have the same problem. I also have the same problem with the More Privacy Options plugin, which seems to work similarly. I have one web site on which the More Privacy Options is working as advertised, but now I can’t get it to work.

Oh, is it supposed to write to .htaccess ? If so, I probably know why it isn’t working now. I don’t think my .htaccess file is writable by the process under which the web server runs.

Network Privacy doesn’t update the .htacess.

Otherwise, I haven’t gotten to this yet.

Sorry for the very long delay. However, I just tested this in WP 3.3.1 and the network settings are saving fine.

That updated date is a function of the plugin repository. I have no control over that. The plugin was updated about 1/2 hour before I posted above.
