[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Change NextGen directory?

I want to change the directory of my NextGen gallery up one level, to the root directory. My goal is to make linking images from my site easier. Instead of http://www.website.com/wp-content/gallery/folder/image.jpg I want to simply use http://www.website.com/gallery/folder/image.jpg. Is there a way to achieve this?

I tried moving the gallery folder and changing the path in the NextGen options but it didn’t work.

I’m running NextGen 1.0.2 on Word Press 2.7. Thanks!
