[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Simple controls for slideshow!
-
Hi all,
I am so happy to have finally tried NextGEN gallery because it’s the only gallery that could manage a very large image gallery (50+ images) without freezing up the loading of the rest of the site.
But after searching for more than 5 hours and trying a bunch of different things it seems there is no way to add simple controls to the slideshow? Just to be clear I am using the [ slideshow=1 ] shortcode.
I am simply looking to add a “previous” and “next” button so users can advance or go back to the previous image in the slideshow.
I am aware the Flash version of the slideshow already has such controls however I am trying to stick with the non-Flash slideshow.
Edit: I have tried all the different plugins that enhance the default NextGEN gallery – but NONE of them has the ability to display a preload sprite while the gallery is loading the images AND to only display a few images in the source code at a time, which DRAMATICALLY saves load time.
Thanks so much for any help or suggestions!

Does anybody have any advice or inputs? 🙂
I had the same concern about not wanting a Flash slideshow.
I settled for using the JW Rotator solution (http://www.longtailvideo.com/players/jw-image-rotator/) which provides controls on Flash supported devices. But for those that don’t support Flash (iPad etc.) the slide show still plays – forward – so at least it’s visible.
If you find a better solution please post here and let me know!
Does anybody else have any suggestions?
I hired a dev and solved the issue!
