[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Singlepic to Gallery

I have seen this question asked several times and been all over the internets searching for a decent solution but have so far been unsuccessful with finding a solution. I just need to find a way to insert a single picture into a post and have it open a gallery when I click on it. I have seen a few hacks here and there but I don’t feel comfortable messing with that stuff.

Is there perhaps a way to launch a gallery from a specific URL? If so, I can just insert a single image into a post using the standard WordPress image feature and then tell it to open the URL of the gallery when clicked upon.

I’m open to other ideas if anyone has some.
