I’m having the same problem. I’ve read through the forums here and tried several of the fixes that seemed to work for others but so far no luck.
I am using [slideshow id=1] as specified by the instructions. I have one gallery, and it’s id is indeed 1.
I have uploaded the .swf file in the uploads folder and have tried pointing the slideshow options to that folder both manually as well as automatically with the ‘search’ feature.
Interestingly, if I put a different number for the slideshow id (such as 0 or 2) I do see an error displayed on the front end saying [Gallery Not Found].
I am able to use the gallery portion and had one listed on it’s own page also with the id as 1. (same gallery). I deleted that one in the event you can only use the id in one circumstance at a time.
So far I’ve had no luck in making this slideshow work. 🙁
I believe I am using the updated versions of both wordpress as well as nextgen. Could it be my theme interfering with the java? I’m using Atahualpa 3.3.3.
I would really appreciate any help at all! 😀
Thanks very much!
Starr
I would like to add that when I visit your page here I cannot see the slideshow demo, but am able to see the other options like gallery & image browser so I am guess it’s not my theme.
I can see my slideshow, maybe a browser or flash issue ? Try to update or recheck it with a other browser

I find that slideshow is not working when enabled on the same page as imagebrowser.
My apologies if you already knew this, but I thought I would just add that you have to go to Gallery > Options > Slideshow (which is in the horizontal top menu) to get the slideshow working. I didn’t see that top menu after I was in the Options menu and was going crazy trying to figure out why the slideshow wasn’t working.
Hope this helps someone!
When I go to Gallery > Options > Slideshow – I get a blank page; the slideshow options do not show up (like they do on other sites where I have used nextgen). Any ideas as to why?
I’ve got the same issue, slideshow options page is blank, even after carefully following the instructions.
Upload the imagerotator.swf to the /uploads/ folder not the plugins folder.
OK. I am getting the same problem. The code [slideshow id=1] does not show anything on the page. I am using WP-MU 2.9.1 with the latest versions of NextGEN and imagerotator. I do know that the path is correct and everything is set up right. For more details and a screenshot see
NextGEN goodness (the blog site I’m working on is behind a firewall so it’s not visible to the world).
Cheers

OK. I’ve sussed the problem. It was the path descriptor. When I see the phrase ‘path’ I always assume that it means absolute file path, so I had /usr/local/www/apache/data/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/imagerotator.swf as the “path to imagerotator”. What it actually means is the URL, so changing this to http://blogs.sergius.earlham.edu/wp-contents/uploads/imagerotator.swf did the trick. I guess it does say (URL) in the field descriptor but the if the [Search now] button doesn’t work (which mine didn’t) then you have to trial and error it.
so, i’ve done every thing correctly at least in my hapazard way and when i insert [gallery=2] i get thumbnails; the link for show slideshow is there but when clicked i get a black box in the post.? any suggestions? i hope some one can help.
when i use [slideshow id=2] i just get a black box for flash and nothing happens. i’m using wp2.9.2 latest NextGEn 1.5.3.
