    Hi –

I could use some help with the Rewrite & Republish feature not performing as expected on my site. This worked on the staging version of my site, so I’m confused as to why it’s not working on the production version. I’m going to try again on the staging version and will update this thread if I learn anything.

    First, details on my site:

    Wordpress: 5.2.2
    Yoast Duplicate Post: 4.1.2

Here’s an outline of the problem:

When editing a Page in WordPress, I have the option to Rewrite & Republish: https://share.getcloudapp.com/o0uPG4wq

Here’s an example of a post that I intended to use the Rewrite and Republish functionality.
    https://share.getcloudapp.com/X6ulR4wY

Rather than having a button to “Republish” this article, WordPress is only giving me a “Publish” button.

If I click the Publish button, WordPress creates a new version of this page rather than merging it into the old document. For example, in this particular case, it would create a new post https://www.biglawinvestor.com/lawyer-salaries-2/.

Once I’m in this state, I can’t seem to get out of it. The original post no longer has an option for Rewrite and Republish: https://share.getcloudapp.com/eDuRXzqP

Do you have any suggestions on how I can get the plugin to function as expected and merge the new content into the old content?

Just a quick follow-up. The plugin is functioning as expected on the staging site. The only difference between the two sites is the staging site has WordPress 5.7.2 installed. Is that the problem? Or is there a user error and I’m doing something wrong?

    Hi @biglawinvestor

Just to clarify, on your production site, it’s on WordPress 5.2.2?

We don’t recommend using older versions of WordPress (with reasons stated in the article here), so if the only difference between your staging site and your live site is the WP version, we would recommend updating the production site to 5.7.2 or the latest version of 5.8.1, and seeing if the rewrite & republish function in the Yoast Duplicate Post plugin then works as intended.

Thank you @mikes41720, I appreciate the response.

Yes, the production site was on WordPress 5.2.2.

We updated to WordPress 5.7.2 today and that solved the problem. The Yoast Duplicate Post plugin now works as intended.
