• I installed Ultimate Member because the description made it sound like it could secure menu items (and their direct URLs) by user. But now the plug-in is installed and I can’t find any way to do this. I need particular menu items to be allowed to only specific users.

This is a classroom website. My gradebook is a Google Sheet provided by the school, and each student’s section of the Sheet is “published to web” and embedded in an iframe on the student’s private page. Now I think I need to provide menu items for each student to reach his private page, and I don’t want students to see any other student’s menu item. I also want the direct URL to these menu items to be secured.

All the plugins I’ve found so far depend on roles, or on logged-in status, but not on individual user IDs. I am familiar with php and htaccess but not yet familiar with WP internals.

I had been using the WP-Members plugin to secure our private classroom website, and using the User Specific Content plugin to secure a private page for each student’s grades. (This plugin can also secure posts, but not menu items.)

I was prepared to replace them with Ultimate Member but it doesn’t seem to do anything that WP-Members didn’t already do. User Specific Content’s checkboxes would be great if they were available to menu item editing the way that they are for Page Editing.

Is there a better strategy to accomplish this?
If this strategy is good, is there already a plugin for this?
    All suggestions or corrections welcome.
    Thank yyou for your attention.

    Hi @trupod,

I’m afraid, it is not possible to restrict menu items for specific users, it is only possible for user roles.
The workaround would be creating the separate user roles for the student who can access your private page and for the student who can’t access it.

Thanks for your suggestions, we will see if it is possible to add this option in the future.

    Regards.
