In the settings of the plugin open “About” and take a look at “Requirements for whois queries”. Is “fsockopen” set to “Enabled” and “Port 43” set to “Open”?

Hi, “fsockopen” is “Enabled”, but “Port 43” is “locked”. I asked my hosting supplier (GoDaddy) and they said that they lock this port for security reasons and to avoid whois spamming.

Port 43 is essential to communicate with the whois servers, unfortunately there is no alternative.
Ask your hosting provider if he could unlock this port.

I’m having the same problem I have had my plugin for a about a year and now when I just put any domain name, the plugin gets an “error message” … I check the settings of the plugin “About” – “Requirements for whois queries”. Is “fsockopen” set to “Enabled” and “Port 43” set to “Open” … what can I do to get this fixed

Which version of the plugin, of WordPress and of PHP are you using. You find these infos also under “About”.
If you enable “Whois Link” in the general settings there should be an error message in the detailed whois information window after clicking on the link. Which?

    Wordpress is 5.5.1
    Php 7.1.33

With “Whois Link” enabled in the general settings do a domain check e.g. for .com and click on the “whois” link. Which message is shown in the information window / popup?

    com (whois.crsnic.net)

Do a normal domain check, not in the settings. You should get a result like that: test.com error (whois)
After click on “whois” an error message should be shown.

Or send a link to your website, so I could test it myself.

I’m with the same plugin does not work.
    Port 43 open, WP 5.6.1, PHP 7.0.33.
Everything apparently right, but it doesn’t work, it keeps searching forever and it doesn’t end. Nor does it present an error.
    It just doesn’t work.
Can you help me? If it works it will be wonderful.

There was a problem with PHP versions lower than 7.2.
It’s now fixed with the latest update of the plugin (1.7.3).

Thank you very, very much. Your plugin is perfect and wonderful.
