I’m experiencing the same problem on Cloudways/Vultr. Not multisite.
Their support told me this and it worked:
This is happening as you have bot protection enabled on Cloudways. Both MalCare and bot protection are made by us and use the same plugin folder.
Can you please disable bot protection temporarily and install and set up the MalCare plugin again? Once you have installed and completed the setup, you may re-enable bot protection from Cloudways.
When you activate the bot protection in Cloudways it overwrites the plugin name as bot protection but you will be able to use both MalCare and bot protection alongside.
Hello @mrpoter and @scizizy ,
Based on the information provided by our support team, it seems that the issue is related to the bot protection feature enabled on Cloudways, which conflicts with the MalCare plugin. In order to resolve this, we recommend temporarily disabling the bot protection feature. After disabling it, please proceed with reinstalling and setting up the MalCare plugin. Once the setup is complete, you can re-enable the bot protection feature from the Cloudways platform. Please note that even though the Cloudways bot protection may overwrite the plugin name, both MalCare and bot protection should work simultaneously.
Please follow these steps and let us know if the issue is resolved. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask.
As the ticket has been successfully addressed and resolved, we will now proceed to mark it resolved. However, if you require any further assistance, feel free to open a new thread.
Regards,
Sweta
