[Plugin: origin] Since implementing Origin … site-load is very slow

    Hi guys,

    Firstly, thanks for an amazing theme!

    Am currently building a site in beta, and have just uploaded these theme and am tinkering with getting all the content ready pre-Launch.

    WP 3.4.2
    Origin 0.3.5

    However – it has significantly slowed down the load time of the site.

    This is down to several seconds to load! As compared to a previous WP theme I was going to use (before finding Origin) which would load relatively quickly.

    Any tips on why Origin in particular is causing all the lag?

    Try deleting plugins you no longer use.

    ok thanks,

    I think I’ll get rid of askimet – as I’ve noticed googling around that this one can be a culprit in some situations of WP lag

    will post back here with results

    You could move your scripts into the footer. This will not change load time, but your website will load visually first before it loads the scripts.

    Thanks Andrew.

    It turned out that it was just the Akismet plug-in! I’ve deactivated that and the site loads super-quick.
