  • I have installed the Polylang and created some pages in 2 different languages. Polylang shows the pages of a particular language (English) and hides the other of another language – that’s ok.

But the flags and the language switcher are not shown on the web site.

I have added the “Language Switcher” widget to the “Homepage Widget Area”.(I am not sure if this is correct.) The properties: “Displays language names” and “Displays flags” are also checked.

    – So why the flags and the language switcher doesn’t appear ? What should I modify and where ?

    Thanks in advance.

The widget is displayed with the names and not the flags ?
Could you post a link ?

The widget is not displayed at all. Neither with names nor with flags. There is nothing displayed on the web site related to the Polylang or its widget.

Ok, I re-installed the plugin and it functions now. (I previously experimented with other plugins for multi languages support which are also un-installed).

    One more question is:
Do I have to use : geolocator wordpress plugin
    in combination with Polylang ?
, so that the web pages are automatically loaded according the region, or this function is built into the Polylang ? (let’s say the plugin detects from OS, or browser installed -> which language to choose) ?

Polylang already includes a detection of the language preference in the browser. Just check “When the front page is visited, set the language according to the browser preference” in Polylang settings.

IMHO, it is better to use language browser preference than language based on an IP (think to expatriates, countries with more than a language and so on…)
