I have never had any issues with the featured images. Since featured images are at the core of the plugin and this is the first I have heard of such an issue, I would be willing to bet that what you are experiencing is an error in your theme or another plugin that is filtering the featured images in some way.

the version of WordPress is WP 3.3.1, i use the promotion slider 3.3.1
The code you pasted likely has nothing to do with the issue. The issue is not in any core WordPress files, because everyone would be having this issue.

Do you have a link to the page where the slider is? It is most likely a javascript conflict, but I wouldn’t know without taking a look.
