[Plugin: Related Posts Thumbnails] Custom field not working

I want to display related post thumbnails, this plugin has option to select custom field using field name. But custom field option is not working. I am not able to display image( which is custom field) in related posts. I checked plugin code it uses get_post_meta(); but my custom field needs to use the_field(); I tried to change it but its not working. Please help me
