• Hello. I just installed the free Relevanssi plugin and am loving it so far. However, I notice a problem. When searching for double words, Relevanssi actually replaces the apostrophe character with the HTML representation ’ in the result excerpts.

On my site for example, if I search for the terms “Windows 8”, I get back search results for many, many unrelated posts because there is the number 8 in the HTML representation of the apostrophe character in the excerpt. I briefly went over the changelog and read something about this issue and I thought it had been solved. My blog can located at: http://www.anotherwindowsblog.com.

Thanks and any help would be appreciated.

First of all, Relevanssi doesn’t by default index words shorter than three characters, so unless you’ve changed the setting, “Windows 8” is equal to “Windows” when searching (try searching for “Windows 9” and you’ll get exactly the same results, just with different highlights).

What you’re seeing is a problem with highlighting, and it doesn’t actually have anything to do with the searching. The highlights are independent of the actual searching.

I do know of this problem, but my first attempt to solve this with someone caused more problems than it fixed, so I’m still thinking of how to solve this.
