Can anyone comment on this – is it a security risk?
Thanks.
Good question – I haven’t seen any notification email from the wordpress team, will contact them now.
Hiya @benjamin4,
That’s not something that flagging a forum moderator can help with, you will have received an email from the plugins team (make sure to check your junk mail!), if you truly can’t find anything, reach out to the team at [email protected] and they’ll help you.
Hi @clorith – actually, I take the blame for flagging the mod. There was no information about why the plugin had been removed for any of its users so I thought maybe you could help with that.

So it was closed because the E-Mail adress of my other wordpress account has become invalid. It might take a few day until it will be re-opened, because it will be reviewed manually. Sorry for that!
Thanks for letting us know.
@benjamin4 Thanks for the prompt updates–very reassuring. When the plugin is back in the WP plugin repo, can you update us here? Or maybe in a new forum post?
Yes I will … subscribe this thread and you will be notified 😉
Great thanks. I am indeed subscribed 🙂

@benjamin4 Happy to see you’re still supporting this plugin!
Just curious, I notice you sometimes go on a hiatus weeks at a time. I’m assuming, you’re too busy with your day job to answer questions on the support forum? If so, do you offer “paid support” if we urgently need you in the future? Thank you, this is one of the best plugins out there.
@audiowarrior Good question and thanks! I have answered it in this thread:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/community-support-here-and-where-to-get-paid-support/So the plugin is now back in directory. Every plugin that has been closed is reviewed again by both the wordpress team and the plugin author, that’s why I renamed the plugin (GeoIP is trademarked by Maxmind, so it can’t be used in the plugin name) and did some security hardening (it didn’t look like the issues that I improved can be used for an succesful exploit, but it’s always good to add extra security layers when possible).
Great, thanks very much for that.
