[Plugin: Role Scoper] restrict file viewing not working

    I can not get Role Scoper to restrict file downloads. I have enabled ‘Filter Uploaded File Attachments’ and run the Attachments Utility. I attached and inserted a file into a post. I then restricted the post to a certain group. My test user can not view the post, which is correct. However, if that user enters the direct path to the file, they can view the file.

    • Shouldn’t Role Scoper prevent that?
    • Did I miss a setting?
    • Is my htaccess file supposed to have been altered (it hasn’t been)

    Each protected file gets an entry in wp-content/uploads/.htaccess. For multisite, there is a per-file entry in blogs.dir/N/files and a per-site entry in the main .htaccess

    Is your file in one of those folders?

    I revisited file filtering and found it to be working without any changes made for the new version 1.3.56. But it does eliminate some PHP warnings which could possibly have broken your file filtering.

    If it’s still not working for you, check the PHP error log for clues.

    same with me. custom upload folder, but neither root .htaccess nor /uploads .htaccess nor /customfolder/.htaccess generated. file generally visible.
