[Plugin: RSSImport] change feed display

I am trying to add a class to the
<ul> before the feeds. Therefore I need to change the $start_items variable but, no matter what I try, it doesn’t seem to work, it keeps outputting the same simple <ul>. Please help me understand the correct usage of all those parameters in the php version of the function (not the short code). 10x.
