Plugin seems to stop WordPress automatic sizing suddenly

Hi there,

I’ve been using WP Smush.it plugin for sometime now with no issues. However it has now suddenly just stopped working properly.

Any images uploaded to WordPress seem to prevent WordPress resizer from working correctly. So for example:

1. Upload image
2. Wait for smush to work (as normal)
3. When image shows up in media gallery when uploading- no image dimensions are reported and no thumbnail, medium and large size options are presented in the upload box. Furthermore the Featured Image becomes broken as it can’t resize the featured image.

What could the issue here?

Hi @gradtouch

Something must have changed for it to stop working.

Do you have any new plugins?

Change of theme? Has something changed on your server?

Have you tried disabling Smush.it to see if the images upload normally?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply. No it’s very strange. Not had any new updates or plugins/themes added. This also happened on 3 other separate WordPress installations without me doing any changes?

Once I disable the Smush it plugin, it all starts working again. Very strange.

Hi Mike,

That seems to have worked even though I never got the header issues that the links/threads describe.

However I added ?> to wp-config (I noticed its missing in wp-config-sample.php which is why I had my copy missing) and did the JSON removal of a blank new line.

Strange that it would suddenly stop working even though these files were previously already like this and the plugin worked before with no changes.
