Now receiving the following error message since the update:

Fatal error: Cannot use string offset as an array in /[site]/wp-content/plugins/seo-ultimate/modules/class.su-module.php on line 649

Was functioning last night. So I had to delete the folder via FTP in order to regain access to my site. I tried to re-install to make sure I didn’t do anything wrong, WordPress stopped it from activating because of the same error message.

Thanks for your patience, everyone. For some reason, I haven’t been getting the messages via the contact form, so please try resending any wp_options data using this form instead: http://wordpress.jdwebdev.com/contact/ . Sorry for the inconvenience.

Again, it’s hard to know what’s going on for sure since I haven’t been able to replicate the error, but my best guess is that when SEO Ultimate is saving its settings, the process is somehow interrupted and so only a part of the data gets saved. Then next time a page is loaded, WordPress can’t load SEO Ultimate’s settings and so it gives SEO Ultimate gibberish instead, which causes SEO Ultimate to crash. In SEO Ultimate 2.9 or later, I added a “safety check” so that SEO Ultimate can recover from this type of settings corruption.

So upgrading to SEO Ultimate 2.9 or later should fix the problem (assuming my hunch is correct), but you may lose some of your settings (thankfully you won’t lose your custom title tags, descriptions, and keywords for posts/pages though). Therefore, please send me your wp_options data before upgrading to the latest version (because upgrading may wipe it clean).

Next I’ll try to see if I can do anything to stop the settings corruption from happening in the first place (assuming that that is actually the cause of the error). Getting the wp_options data via the contact form at http://wordpress.jdwebdev.com/contact/ should help with the debugging process.

After some time using All in one SEO pack I decided it was time to return to SEO Ultimate and certainly didn’t dissapoint me. All bugs have been fixed and now I can say it’s the best SEO tool for the ones that like taking control.
Thank you for the great effort.
    Cheers
