Plugin Slows down Site Loading Speed

When I installed this plugin on my website, it slowed down the load speed throughout my entire site considerably. Are you able to shed any light on why this may be happening? I’ve had to deactivate the plugin on our site because it was slowing it down so much, so unfortunately I’m unable to provide an example of this in action.
