    The same problem 🙁

    Local dev server, PHP built-in HTTP server, PHP 5.6.27.

    I upgraded the WordPress (4.7.1), tried to turn off all other plugins but it doesn’t work anyway. Then I decided to turn WP-SpamShield plugin off and now server freezes when I’m trying to activate it.
    Also I’m using W3TC but it is disabled.

    Thanks for reporting this. We’ll look into it.

    Update: Version 1.9.9.8.4 has been released with the fix. Everything is working fine now. Please see the changelog for details.
