    As many WordPress users have found out, you can’t use %category% in your permalinks on Apache 1.3, because the greedy factor of mod_rewrite in that version causes it to break.

    This plugin has been working for me on Apache 1.3. Comments/testing much appreciated. Enjoy 🙂
