Plugin update notifications NOT appearing

    Hi there,

    I’m having trouble with my WP site. WP is not notifying me via the admin panel when there are new updates for the plugins I’m using.

    Also, a few days ago the site stopped sending emails (user registration etc).

    I didn’t make any changes at all and I’m completely stumped. Anyone care to help?

    It could be that your host increased their security and blocked all calls to external websites. (this could account for the lack of update notifications.)

    As for the emails, try to create a simple php file, call it email.php, put it in the root and call it in your browser. The file should contain:

    <?php
mail('[email protected]', 'My Subject', 'my content');
?>

    If you don’t get an email then it’s a hosting issue. If you do there’s something wrong with your WordPress install.
