I would try to update again. That error sounds like the download zip didn’t download properly.
I’ve tried several times already. Do you think it’s related to the version of WordPress I’m using? It is 4.0.1. I noted this warning on the JW Player plugin page.” This plugin has not been tested with your current version of WordPress.” Thanks.

It should be fine. I am using WP 4.0.1 on my local host, and it was able to update fine.
