  • I would also like advice on how to restore. Please bear in mind that I’m a novice. Thank you.

The WordPress files are backed up as-is. That is, you could use a standard FTP program to put them back right where you want them.

The database backups in wp-content/backups are outside my area of expertise, and am hoping the dev can answer that. They are, as most SQL backups are, command files that, when executed, rebuild the tables and then write the data to the tables. But I’m not sure how to execute them.

That answer really did not help. From what I read on your post I would have to ‘know’ which files are which and then replace them via ftp one at a time.

I was hoping for a simple answer.

I have send an email to the author of the program and his response was that there was NO RESTORE at this time and had NOT RESPONDED to my queries to him about when a restore would be available or a refund for his PREMIUM version of the program that does not have the restore feature.

The right answer would be to have a complete “PREMIUM” program that is paid for that includes the restore not just a payment to do create a zip file and a second payment to do an email.

I will post the final resolution of this on this thread when it is completed.

When restoring a backup, you only need to restore the database and know which version of WordPress to upload to get your site up & running again.

I know that. My issue is that how could anyone sell a PAID BACKUP program that DOES NOT HAVE a restore option. Then the company DOES NOT RESPOND to the user when they ask questions.

One solution that he could have had was to have a web page that walked the client through the process. I know here are people out there who purchased this program who do not have clew that the back-up they made in not worth a red cent.

My next option is to go to PayPal and ask them to void the transaction.

I just got a note back and the author said that the backup is in the works and that he processed the refund.

That was first class service. Definitely will give it a try when it is released.

I will be very interested in the addition of a restore facility that could be used by novices like me. The sooner the better please. I would be happy to purchase.

How will I know when the facility is available?

itmanagercio – Your attitude is APPALLING.

You’ve purchased something you don’t understand, which does exactly what it claims to do. Is it called “WordPress Backup to Dropbox and Restore from Dropbox?” No.

Then, you come on here with a bad attitude.

IT Manager CIO, maybe you should learn how the software you use actually works, before accusing others of providing poor service. I’m sure the company is sorry that you didn’t read the specification of the product before you bought it. Then again, that seems to be what every IT Manager I’ve ever met seems to do.

To restore files:– Upload all files that don’t end with *.sql, via FTP.
To restore SQL: Go into PHPMyAdmin (ask your host if you don’t know where this is), head into your database, click “Import”…choose the backed up SQL file.

A simple Google search would have taught you that.

And you think your backups aren’t worth a red cent? Nice.

Well we let thinks in positive way after you issued the refund. The only thing that your rant did was to show the lack of “features” in your program.

    Have a good day.
