[plugin] WordPress Stats Issue (#904586405968)

I have been trying to get WP Stats to work for the last 3 hours, and still nothing. I’ve searched for the error that I received with not hits, so here’s the problem…

I use my existing API for a new self hosted blog, and when I go to activate WP Stats, I get this line underneath the very uninviting redbox:

“The API key “xxxxxxxxxxx” belongs to the WordPress.com account of “xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx”. If this is not your account, please re-enter your API key.”

So I went back to wp.com and setup a new username, thinking that maybe I would need a new API for this new site. WRONG! Went back to my site and reactivated the plugin, got the same message. So I went BACK to wp.com to verify the email address.. same address. WP Stats is still fashionably late to my blogging party.

Any help would be awesome I’m at my wits end and don’t want to buy another license for Mint to maintain some sort of tracking over my blog.
