[Plugin: WordPress.com Stats] not working since WP 2.9.1

    Since upgrading to WordPress 2.9.1 and Stats 1.6.1 I can’t get my Stats back to work.
    Everytime I activate the plugin and go to the Stats-menu in the dashboard, WordPress starts loading a long time and ends up with error 500 (internal server error) or a blank page.
    I have tried almost everything (older Versions of the plugin, removing the .htaccess in 1.6.1), but the Stats won’t work.

    Is anybody having the same issue?

    PS: My blog is hosted on a shared webspace, my PHP memory limit is 44M, used memory is 26M
