Plugin works haphazardly

Hello,
My website relies on importing articles from other sources via rss feed, and then when the post is created locally, AFI is supposed to generate a featured image for it. I am on the premium version, and the setting is “Find or Google”. I have noticed two issues:
1- for some posts, no thumbnail is found or googled at all
2- for other posts, when I go to the post and I click on “no image” it shows me that there are images, but they are not being displayed.
In a lot of cases, what resolves the bigger issue (number 1) is to just go into the plugin and click on Generate Featured Images. When I do that, around 80% of the missing images are generated, and then I do the remaining ones manually. I have tried almost every setting for the plugin, but it still doesn’t work as planned.
I need a solution asap, and if there isn’t one, I don’t mind creating a cron job that would do it if you can tell me how (absolute beginner instructions).
