snails07, the listings are actually posts so the permalinks shouldn’t be giving you any trouble if your regular post links are working fine. Where can I see an example of the problem?
Thanks for the reply. I have set the permalinks to /%postname% and it all works fine until I click on the actual ‘view listing’ link or the business name itself.
I added the fake business called ‘biz name’ and there is a post titled biz name with the slug of biz-name but I cant view that post for some reason. It gives me the 404 – page not found error. The post is set to public display so that is not the problem.
You can view it at http://begiin.com/test4/category/general
Thanks
Just out of curiosity, why are you using a plugin? It seems like you can change your permalink to /%category%/%postname% ? Not familiar with business directories, so just thought I would ask
I have changed themes but still I cannot view the individual listings. Any ideas why this might be happening?
Will be checking for this problem while preparing for version 1.4 update.
Mine adds a number at the end…example here
http://directory.acowboyswife.com/my-wooden-spoon-5/ Is that normal?
I also have mine set to /%postname%
snails07 I am still stumped on the permalinks. I am releasing version 1.4 today but I have made any update to it regarding permalinks. If you update and the problem with permalinks remains please let me know.
acowboyswife, don’t know why that 5 has been appended. Any chance you might have some posts that have the same slug my-wooden-spoon? The only time a digit gets appended in that manner that I’m aware is when a
title/slug is used with a post that already has the same title/slug. The digit is appended in order to make each unique.
The business directory plugin does not create the post page. It passes the data to WordPress and WordPress creates the post page using the same method it uses when you add a new post.
acowboyswife, check the trash for a post withe the same name. I had the same problem and after i’ve cleared the trash it worked just fine.
@themestown – The latest update 1.4 has fixed this problem for me. I know you said that the update didn’t include a fix for this but whatever you have done fixed the problem. Thanks
