[Plugin: WP-Footnotes] Footnotes in Auto-gen Excerpt

On my blog I display excerpts with a link to the full post. If I don’t fill in the excerpt field and I have a footnote early in the article, an unlinked footnote number in superscript shows up in the auto-generated excerpt.

Seems like this shouldn’t be happening.
