    Hi All,

just installed WordPress in order to migrate away from LiveJournal. To make my blog understand my LJ identity I installed WP OpenID as well, but it doesn’t seem to recognize my LJ username, which is _myx.livejournal.com.

As far as I can see, it can not recognize it because of the underscore in the beginning. Similarly, it wouldn’t accept usernames with an underscore in the end, like my friend’s: ld_.livejournal.com. Usernames without dashes/underscores or having them in the middle are just fine.

I was about to conclude there was a bug in WP OpenID, but when I went to the author’s blog (http://willnorris.com/wordpress/wp-login.php) and tried to log in as _myx.livejournal.com, I passed the validation successfully. This means there is just some configuration problem but I can’t find out what it is.

The next thing I tried is fresh install from scratch, but the problem still doesn’t seem to be resolved. Does anyone have an idea on what might go wrong?

Everyone is welcome to try: http://ostankin.net/blog/wp-login.php
    WordPress version: 2.5.1, non-localized
    WP OpenID version: 2.1.9
    All other plugins are deactivated.

    Thanks in advance!

  • I don’t seem to be able to do anything with your sample site. If I log in with OpenID it says only existing users can do that. When I go to the site looking for ‘register’ I don’t find a registration page. So there’s no way to test anything you’re talking about.

Yes, my mistake – I didn’t enable “Anyone can register” option. Now it’s fixed, you can try again.

But nevertheless: if you bumped into “non-existent user” problem, this means had successfully passed the authentication. Do you have an underscore in your OpenID name?

that’s pretty odd. I’m not at my normal workstation right now, but will take a look at it tomorrow. If you haven’t already, please add a bug report to the DiSo issue tracker so I can follow it up there.

    Logged a bugreport: http://code.google.com/p/diso/issues/detail?id=65

It just occurred to me that, apart from WordPress configuration, hoster information might also be relevant. Unfortunately, I don’t know much, but I supplied all the information I knew and ready to provide more on request.
