[Plugin: WP phpBB Bridge] Cannot access WP Admin Panel when Bridge is Active

    Im guessing since we were posting in a resolved topic that it didn’t alert anyone.

    I’m having the exact same issue as the original poster of this topic:

    I installed the WP bridge, no editing of the original code, kept it all as is.
    Set up the location of the config and ucp to the correct locations.

    Once I do that, upon trying to access the Admin Control Panel of WP, I get directed directly to the forum login page.

    Also, upon visiting my WP page, I get logged out of phpbb.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Here’s what I tried:

    I have the same issue. I tried your advice and created the same user with the same password, made that user an admin in wordpress and then performed the following in order:

    1. logged out of my dashboard
    2. logged back in as the new user that matches the phpbb login
    3. activated the plugin and then the bridge

    Now everything I click in the admin panel takes me to my forums login section. If i’m logged out of the forums when I click links in the admin panel in wordpress I get redirected to my forums with this message:

    “You have been successfully logged out.”

    If i’m logged in as the new user I get:

    “You were not logged out, as the request did not match your session. Please contact the board administrator if you continue to experience problems.”

    If I check the wordpress site I’m logged in as admin instead of the new user I created even though before activating the plugin and the bridge I made sure to be logged in as the new user, not admin.

    If I then attempt to log out of admin from the wordpress site I get redirected back to the forums with this:

    “You were not logged out, as the request did not match your session. Please contact the board administrator if you continue to experience problems.”

    I can’t login as the new user until I disable the plugin via the database. Rinse repeat.

    I have a bit of a strange setup so Im curious if this might have anything to do with it. While my forums and wordpress are installed on the same server, the databases are not. The forums use a MSSQL ODBC connection to another server whereas wordpress uses a local MySQL database. Think that might be my issue?

    Any help would be much appreciated. This is a great plugin, just wish I could take advantage of it. Thanks in advance.

    I’ve been searching for a quality bridge for over two months, I’ve even played with joomla and I will tell you that this bridge is the easiest, most intuitive, straight forward and simple bridge you will ever find.
    This is the first bridge that I have actually gotten to work. Try these steps.

    You need to ensure a few things:
    Your forums are a subfolder of your wordpress file structure.

    I set up my phpbb and wordpress in the same SQL server, but mike (from this topic: http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/plugin-wp-phpbb-bridge-cannot-login-to-wp-admin-redirected-to-forum-login?replies=26#post-1998734) set them up in separate SQL servers so that shouldn’t matter.

    I used the same login name, password, and e-mail for both admin accounts. Not sure how Mike did it.

    Once you have your wordpress and phpbb forums set up, you need to add the phpbb username widget. (I went ahead and added all the phpbb widgets, just to be sure everything I needed was there)

    Then set up the paths to point to your phpbb forums within the wordpress add-on tab in your wordpress admin panel.

    All should then work, you should be able to login to your wordpress admin panel without a problem. If it doesn’t, do what Mike said, as that worked for me as well. Another option is to completely delete the plugin from your plugin folder inside of wordpress and then reinstall and try it again.
