    Hi,

I just installed the plugin and am having a few issues.

    1. I am trying to create an image that is 980×346 normally. So I created it as double the size (1960×692). When I upload the resized images offered by WordPress (small, medium, large), it doesn’t have 980×346 as a selection.
Is it an issue to manually set this if I were to select large and then change the dimensions? Or will the plugin not respond to this?

    2. Since it didn’t offer 980×246, when I select large, which is 640×225, it tells me I need to resize the image to 2048×722. I don’t quite understand this since 1960×692 is clearly more than double 640×225.

What size do I need to do so I don’t have to constantly go in and keep reuploading images?

    3. Last, I have a logo set at 325×125. I customly uploaded logo@2x to the server with it being 650×250. It works fine on a desktop but when I go to it via a retina device it is shown at 650×250 and not 325×125. Not sure if I am missing the concept of retina, but any help would appreciated it.

    Thanks!

    Hello tdor,

    1. If you don’t have 980×346 as you medium or large size, you need to set it (in Settings > Media). It is an issue with WP, not even yet with the WP Retina 2x. You probably have to (re)think of your blog architecture and layout at this point 🙂 The image sizes are an important part of WordPress as a long of things depend on them.

    2. Where? The plugin wouldn’t ask you to resize the image when you are picking one size. You are in the Media Manager or the Retina Dashboard, right? Well, your theme probably register more sizes as well, that you are not aware about. Check the Settings > Retina 2x, in Basics you will see all the sizes registered in your WordPress and you can check them to remove Retina support.

    3. You have to set the width and height in the HTML for your image (or using CSS). This will work 🙂 You can have a look at my website totorotimes.com or haikyo.org, everything is in Retina using the two methods, you can have a look a the code.

    Hope it helps 🙂

Thanks for the help. Really clears up a lot.

As for #2, the large in Settings>Media is set to 1024×1024 so is that why it would be asking for an image an 2048×722?

    Thanks!

Yes, exactly! The image created by WP for that image (and for the size “1024×1024”) is I am sure 1024×361 in size. That’s why the Retina plugin wants to create an image twice bigger.
