[Plugin: WPtouch] Wptouch Cannot Open Page on mobile.

    Wptouch freaks out on me when I switch from desktop to mobile or the other way around through the little switcher.

    I have the latest versions of WP and WPtouch.

    iOS error says “Cannot Open Page – Safari cannot open the page because it could not establish a secure connection to the server.”

    Android displays a message that is about the same, don’t remember exactly what, my husband is not home so I don’t have access to an Android right now.

    Anyone know how to deal with this?

    Try it when you know you have a sound internet connection. The error message is saying it cannot connect. This isn’t plugin-related but is a basic connectivity issue instead.

    The internet connection is not the problem since I have cell service when wifi isn’t connected..

    It says that it is unable to establish a secure connection on every device that I try.

    I’m having the exact same issue, and I just installed wptouch for the first time tonight.

    In my case, when I try to switch from mobile to desktop, it redirects to https://(site) instead of http://(site). My blog is not secured, and has no SSL. If I delete the ‘s’ from ‘https’, it works great. Do you know how I can change this setting to redirect appropriately?

    Hi cardoney,

    Please check for plugin conflicts by deactivating your other plugins one at a time and see if you find which one is causing the issue. If you have a large number of active plugins, you can start with the ones you suspect may be causing the issue. For example, a plugin like Akismet that runs in the ‘background’ is less likely to cause issues than a plugin that you can clearly see affect your site’s frontend.

    Unfortunately, no luck. I turned off every plugin I have, and it didn’t help. I’m going to try changing themes and seeing if that helps.

    Good. You can test the integrity of your installation of WPtouch by deactivating all other plugins and switching to a basic theme such as TwentyTwelve.

    I cannot revert back to WPTouch on iPhone.

    I switched over to the desktop version to see if it would work but now I can’t seem to revert back to the plugin. Where would I find the switch to so do?

    @tobyh, the switch should be at the bottom of the page if all is working well. WPtouch will automatically display a mobile theme on compatible mobile devices unless explicitly directed not to do so. If you have caching plugins or other caching functionality active, you are likely seeing cached pages using your desktop theme served to your mobile device by that caching software. Clear all caches, deactivate caching then retest.
