Plugins with recent “Last Update” date not recognized in WordPress

Every once in a while I go through my plugins and delete anything that hasn’t been update for a long time. While doing this I noticed a bunch of plugins that were updated 2, 3, 5, etc. days ago on the WordPress Website Plugin Page, but when I click on “Updates” in WordPress the updates are not there. The plugins I noticed today are mostly related to becoming compatible with WordPress 4.7 that was just released.

Is there a lag between when a developer lists his/her plugin as updated and when it is available for update in WordPress, or maybe I need to change a setting somewhere, or click on something, or some other reason? I did click on “Check Again” for “WordPress Updates”, but I imagine that is just for WordPress core, so that would not do anything anyway.
