Podcasting and Drupal Migration
-
Hey all,
First off, I am a complete noob to WordPress. I have used Drupal for a lot of my website setups but, have found that it falls completely short in this case.
I use Libsyn to host the MP3 files for my wife and I’s podcast. For the longest time we were using their not-so-good looking blog as our main landing page. When we re-started production after a year break, I decided to re-vamp the website and move to an actual web host.
This has ended up being a huge pain, and I am strongly considering moving everything to wordpress. I just want to check to make sure that wordpress can do what I need it to do. I am not worried about setup or themes or anything like that, just the overall logistics.
Here is what I am looking to do:
1. Migrate all the old podcast posts and enclosures from the RSS feed on Libsyn.
2. Create a new feed containing all of the back episodes and allowing me to post new ones, then I will syndicate this to Feedburner.
3. Migrate my wife and I’s existing blog content, comments, etc, out of the existing Drupal databases to WordPress. (not sure if this is easily possible). I’d also like to be able for us to each have blogs separate from the podcast feed.
4. Have a podcast player of some sort, that will allow users to play episodes using a flash interface, or something similar.
5. Instant notification to Twitter on new posts would be nice but, not required…Obviously I would need some static pages as well, and I’d like to have categories for blog posts so that they can easily be sorted by topic.
Check the existing site at http://www.lifeonfire.org to get a rough….very rough, idea of what I’d like to see.
Obviously I would find a theme that would suit our needs but, I wanted to see if points 1-5 were technically possible and wouldn’t take too much time to set up.
Thank you for all of your advice/help in advance.
