Polylang crashes Pinnacle

    Hello everyone,

    I have a problem with Polylang crashing both the back and front end of my WP site.

    Yesterday I installed the free Pinnacle WP theme. Today I tried to enable Polylang. When I first enabled it, I received an error saying: Polylang has been deactivated because you upgraded from a too old version. Please upgrade first to 0.9.8 before upgrading to 2.2.3. I then downloaded 0.9.8 from the Polylang site and went on to update it to 2.2.3. That worked and I was able to turn it on. When I did that, however, the frontend part of the website went down. Consequently I disabled the Plugin and the site went back up. I then headed out for lunch and came back a couple of ours later. Since the Polylang Plugin had just received an update the same day (24.09.17), I thought it might have been an error that would have been fixed. I thus enabled Polylang, only for me to have both the front and back end crash. I had to turn it off through the bluehost website to get my site back up.

    My question is thus, has anyone else experienced this issue? Or does anyone know why this might be happening? I have essentially just started building the website, hence I hardly have any other Plugins that might interfere with anything. As a result, I suspect it might be directly related to the Pinnacle theme.

    Hey,
    This error:

    Polylang has been deactivated because you upgraded from a too old version

    Means that you had old polylang data on your site. If this is a new site how is that possible?

    Are you starting from a fresh database?

    In terms of a known issue with polylang I don’t know of anyone else facing this and I can test using polyland on a server without issue.

    Have you tried using a different theme and your issue is directly related to pinnacle?

    Thank you for the response, and a fantastic theme!

    I did not have an old version of Polylang. This is an error with newly downloaded Polylang. Hence, I do not quite understand what has happened there.

    Before I used Polylang with Hestia, Avata and OnePress, and that worked without problems. However, after skipping through various themes, I did a WordPress reset (with the Plugin that allows you to do that) to remove everything on the page. After doing the reset, I found Pinnacle and started using the theme. It was when I tried to reactive Polylang on Pinnacle that it crashed. As I mentioned, it had been fine with Hestia, Avata and OnePress.

    I would guess since you got the error that you did and since I can’t recreate any crashing issue with polylang that you just need to clear up the database. But either way you should contact your host and have them look in your php error logs for what is going on.
