Polylang in multiple-section home page

I’m using the “Twenty Seventeen” theme. I had several sections on the home page, using the “customize theme options” menu; each section’s content was its own page. After activating PolyLang and creating translations for each section using the Pages system, the home page worked fine and translations for each section appeared as expected.

However, after editing a section through the “customize” menu, it seems to have forced each home page section (aside from the top one) to ignore language selection, and I cannot figure out how to change it back.
