    I have had this twice over the last few days, just minutes after starting a site backup, this is only a small portion of the screen?

    Does anyone know what’s causing it? The backup has not moved for 15 minutes?

    May I know where does that show up? Is it from the backend or frontend of your website? Would be great if you can send us a screenshot. Attachment is not allowed here. Please use online tools or upload to cloud and share to us the link.

    This shows up on the backend, in WP Dashboard, after around 6 mins of starting the backup.Screenshot

    Hi Paul,

    Can you try to temporarily deactivate the other plugins used and see if you get the same issue? You can also first try using incognito mode. It could just be conflict with the browser extensions you are using.

    Hi Bryle,

    I activated a default theme, deactivated all plugins except UpdraftPlus, re-ran the backup, 5 mins after starting it crashed with the same screen as supplied earlier.

    I attach the log file from the last backup.

    I will now re-activate the plugins. Yesterday I tried Chrome instead of firefox in incognito, the same result?

    Hi,

    The log just shows that the backup has been timed out by your server.

    Could you try to reduce the backup archive split size? This will split the backup into smaller, more manageable files.

    To do this, open the ‘expert settings’ section of the UpdraftPlus Settings tab, and find the ‘split backups every’ option. Set this to 25Mb save your settings and run a new process.

    If the issue persists, please ask your hosts/server admin to investigate their PHP error logs. These logs should contain more information on the exact issue that is causing the backup process to halt.

    Bryle didn’t specify the ‘Advanced Tools’ tab, he specified the ‘Settings’ tab, in the ‘expert’ section (down the bottom).

    The backup crashed after a few minutes, with the same error, even though I have changed the ‘Split archives every’: to 25MG.

    Hi,

    Please can you explain what in particular you’re referring to by “the backup crashed”? The log file has nothing unusual thus far; you should allow another 30 minutes and then post what is logged after that.

    Hi David,

    When I start the backup, it used to go for approx 10 mins, then crash with the window as per the screenshot at the start of this post. Then I changed the ‘Split archives every 25MB’ as suggested.

    When I re-ran the backup, it crashed with the same window, so I downloaded the log file to hopefully help to find out what’s happening?

    I have removed UprdaftPlus and am using an alternative Plugin as I can’t afford to miss backing up my WP as it was taking too long to find the issue.

    > Can you describe how it crashed? Like the browser just closed down? Did you get any error message? Have you tried using a different browser?

    I have moved to a different Backup plugin as we were getting nowhere after 11 days and I needed to get a backup of my wP site.

    I think maybe the Plugin Developers at UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin
